True Calendar Date
What is True Calendar!
The True Calendar proposes a rational rearrangement of the calendar year, inspired by a more logical understanding of time division throughout the solar year, which comprises approximately 365.24 days. Unlike the Gregorian Calendar, where months have an arbitrary number of days ranging from 28 to 31, the True Calendar standardizes each month to have 28 days.
In our current Gregorian system, the nomenclature of the months doesn’t align with their position within the year. For instance, “October,” denoted by the prefix ‘Octo-‘ for eight, is paradoxically the 10th month. Similarly, “September” (‘Septem’ for seven), “November” (‘Novem’ for nine), and “December” (‘Decem’ for ten) are misaligned, being the 9th, 11th, and 12th months, respectively.
Adjusting the calendar to reflect a more accurate naming convention while omitting July and August—months named after Roman emperors Julius Caesar and Augustus—we propose a system starting with March as the first month. This adjustment leads to a sequence where:
1. March (1)
2. April (2)
3. May (3)
4. June (4)
5. Quintilis (5) – previously July
6. Sextilis (6) – previously August
7. September (7)
8. October (8)
9. November (9)
10. December (10)
11. Undecimber (11)
12. Duodecember (12)
13. Tredicember (13)
By allocating 28 days to each of the 13 months, we achieve a total of 364 days. To reconcile the discrepancy with the solar year, a day named “National Freedom Day” is added at the year’s end, following Tredicember. Additionally, to account for the solar year’s fractional days, a leap version of National Freedom Day is introduced every four years, ensuring the calendar remains aligned with the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.
Hence, the True Calendar, commencing on March 1, 2024, offers a structured and intuitive approach to timekeeping, fostering a renewed sense of order and simplicity in our annual calendar.
